Virginia Highland District Association — Digital Marketing

The Virginia Highland District Association is an 501c3 tax-deductible nonprofit organization founded in 2020 with the mission of economic development and community engagement. As their Marketing Assistant, I designed marketing materials for use in print and web, shot and edited event photography/videography, copyedited newsletters, and curated social media.

This included producing and curating compelling print/digital graphics and signage in alignment with the VHD brand identity for community events, newsletters, the blog, and social media on deadline; through which we grew our social media following to 10k, drove memberships, and generated event ticket sales.

— WINTERFEST ‘23 —

I created these graphic designs in Adobe Illustrator to promote the Virginia Highland District Association’s annual holiday festival, Winterfest. These designs were curated using brand assets & style guides, and were intended for use on social media as slides and stories. The importance of good design in this context is being captivating and accessible, while being informative.

“___ IN VAHI”

These designs were created as a monthly graphic to be posted to Instagram for return use by community members, so that they can be informed of events going on the local community. The key concept here is intuitive design; we want this to be something people use as a reference tool, so we design it as such, post it by the first of the month and pin it at the top of our profile all month long. (Those to the right are for stories.)

FAll Drive

This array of posts was to promote our fall drive for resident sponsors and was meant to notify local residents of the perks that come with being a member of the VHDA. The below slides were used as an Instagram story to motivate potential sponsors to be a part of the progress happening in the community.

Annual meeting

To the left and right are the graphic and recap reel I made for the VHDA’s Annual Meeting.

The sponsor banner was a 3’x6’ graphic hung front and “center” during the Director’s presentation. This displayed and recognized all the various sponsors that make the VHDA possible, effectively outlining the breadth of our influence and motivating attendees to get their name on the banner next year!

The reel currently playing was shot using a mirrorless camera and stabilizing gimbal, edited in Final Cut Pro. The official recap (featured on YouTube) is formatted in standard horizontal aspect ratio, but this was cropped in for use on social media as a reel. This, along with photography, is to be used as archival content to show residents what they missed, as well as promotion for next year.

BEautify vahi

Above and below are Facebook event covers, social posts, and stories to promote our seasonal “Beautify VaHi” events, Community Clean-Up and Fall Planting respectively. As usual for social graphics, the point here is to be consistent and concise.
